The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Summary
Tom Sawyer is an unforgettable character. His adventurous spirit and great imagination bring this story to life. We find Tom convincing his friends to do his painting, chasing pretty Becky Thatcher, and attempting to become a pirate. Joe Harper and Huck Finn are almost always along on the adventure. But when Tom and Huck witness something they shouldn’t, they swear to secrecy. Will Tom keep his vow and allow an innocent man to be punished? Or will he bring the truth to light and live in fear of the man he spoke against?
My Thoughts on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
This book had me laughing. Between the boys’ very serious trading of things like fishhooks and Sunday school tickets, to Tom’s antics to get the attention of Becky Thatcher, Mark Twain knew how to make people laugh. However, there were also some parts where I was confused. The language can be hard to understand, since the original was published in 1876. Some of the customs were dated and didn’t make sense to a modern reader. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a funny, classic adventure.
